Eve 6 was: Max Collins - lead vocals, bass; Jon Siebels - guitar; Tony Fagenson - drums
Skip to album: *It's All In Your Head *Horrorscope *Eve 6jh: Eve 6 was my co-favorite band along with blink-182 (due to Enema of the State, not their horrible more recent CDs) for a couple years during high school. And although Better Than Ezra has taken over the 'favorite' place in my book I will always have a loud spot in my heart for Eve 6. When it comes to simple modern rock without a punky or British (what is the deal with that anyway) edge, this band doesn't have a whole heck of a lot of competition. Bottom line, if you like catchy lyrics and music with some punch then you ought to like Eve 6. The band split up (amicably, I think) following It's All In Your Head, but that actually is ok with me because each of their albums was a little less cool than the one before it.

jh: Everyone loves catching great, unexpected deals. I pre-ordered It's All In Your Head from the band's website and got a good price, plus a pretty sweet sweatband, plus an autographed copy of the front insert. And, with expectations softened a bit by the fact that Horrorscope was a little less playable than Eve 6's self-titled debut, I gave this CD a chance. And it is cool, although a song or two - particularly "Not Gonna Be Alone Tonight" makes you wish for something...a lot better. Sadly, it seems like each new Eve 6 release has more songs to skip...but in light of the first four tracks ROCKING, I'll put up with a couple disappointing songs towards the end of the disc. This CD sounds more punk than Eve 6 and less alternative/pop than Horrorscope and the variety is good. None could compete for Best Song Ever Written, but several of them are awfully catchy, satisfyingly loud, and "Arch Drive Goodbye" has a super cool bridge at the end. If you liked either of Eve 6's previous CDs or you like hard, punk-edged rock, take a minute to listen to some cuts from It's All In Your Head.

jh: The first six songs from Horrorscope are sweet. Tracks 2-4 and track 6 carry on the Eve 6 tradition of getting stuck in your head and then rocking it real hard, and "Here's To The Night" is a good soft song. But, whether intentional or not, there are definite pop influences creeping in around the edges of Horrorscope and some of the CD suffers from this. Actually, the whole second half of the albums is just not anything spectacular as far as lyrics or music. After playing Eve 6 until the disc practically melted, I expected a bit more from the band's second release than I got. This CD is definitely a good one overall despite a few mediocre songs, and it's worth buying if you liked Eve 6's self-titled release or are into slightly popped-down modern rock.

jh: Eve 6 was my favorite album in the world for quite awhile and will always sit near the top of my list. This CD has several of my favorites on it and track 10 is the only bad tune in the bunch. I do not like Eve 6 as much as I used to but that could be because I've listened to it enough that if I could play guitar, I'd be able to play the whole album from memory. If you like modern rock, you should buy this album and you should buy it soon. "Inside Out" was big on the radio and "Leech" got a little bit of airtime but both of these are great in spite of their popularity. "Jesus Nitelite," "Superhero Girl," and "Tongue Tied" are less catchy yet very good, and were it not for its lame chorus "Open Road Song" would probably be my favorite song PERIOD. This is not a perfect rock CD but it all fits together pretty smoothly, not to mention the whole thing is practically overflowing with energy. I said it once but will say it again: if you like straightforward modern rock then Eve 6 has got to be part of your collection.
