jh: Sort of doubt that you've heard of Matthew West... if so, you've probably heard the thouroughly-poppy single "More." I'll be honest, although I like the song and it's catchy... it was a big turnoff. One repetitive pop song with a good message is okay, but repeat that style for a whole CD and you're gonna have me really bored. Then I got to the second (and title) track, and was -- at risk of being a larger nerd than usual -- happy. Matthew West is a rocker, not hardcore and not crazy, but with a good ear for music and a great ability for writing lyrics. Much of Happy wanders towards the Pop edge of the pasture, but it's so good that I won't even pretend to care. "You Know Where To Find Me" is a romantic yet loveable song, "The End" is great and funny, and "The Lie" is the nosiest rock song on the album, but the whole thing is an upbeat disc that sits well with picky old me. Give this one a listen if you like music.
