jh: My mom owns this CD. That's right, my mom. She and dad loved "Somewhere Out There" when they heard it on the radio, so mom went out and bought them a copy. I had to remind her the name of the band several dozen times in order for her to do so, but anyway...this is a pretty good album. I like "Innocent" the most and there are several other catchy, solid tunes on Gravity..."Sorry" and "Do You Like It" are my other favorites. I still like Our Lady Peace better circa 1997 when they were younger and less polished, but as I said: this CD is good. I've seriously considered buying it but I think I will keep my money in the 'little-known bands to discover and share with others' fund (since I can always just borrow my parents' copy of this one). If you like radio-friendly rock that has a good sound and Our Lady Peace quality lyrics, Gravity is something you ought to check into.

jh: Like Happiness..., parts of this CD are pretty weird. All of the tracks containing 'R.K.' in the title are spoken excerpts from the Ray Kurzweil book that was obviously a major influence on Spiritual Machines. Because I hate spoken word tracks, I put off buying this one until I'd listened to the "Life" mp3 on my computer for the 800th time and decided I had to hear the rest of the album. Fortunately, the spoken tracks are really short - and are definitely not filler to make up for an otherwise bland CD. "Life" is one of my favorite songs Our Lady Peace or otherwise; "Right Behind You" and "Middle of Yesterday" hold up the off-beat but rockin' Our Lady Peace tradition of... being off-beat and rocking. A CD that sounds like it belongs between Happiness... and Gravity, you should hear this if you like the big, 'alternative' side of Our Lady Peace.

jh: A strange CD, even by Our Lady Peace standards. Happiness... doesn't have quite the amount of hooks that Clumsy throws your direction, and the amount of weird Raine Maida falsetto fluctuation is a little much to deal with at first. As is often the case, it took me a few listens to stop being sad that this album wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Having gotten through that, I still prefer Clumsy but appreciate the always cool, off-beat Maida songs. The weirdness permeates (yeah, I like that word) Happiness..., from the long title to the guy on the cover to the music and lyrics themselves. And I like it - "Thief," "Waited," "Lying Awake," and "Stealing Babies" manage to get stuck in my head even though I can never remember all the words. Not the band's best CD, but one that should grow on anyone who really likes Clumsy.

jh: Clumsy is yet another example of my inability to keep tabs on what's good in the music world. Relatively speaking, this is a pretty old CD...considering that I would have just been starting high school when it came out. And I even listened to it once at a friend's house, but did I realize then how great this CD was? No, and because the cover picture creeped me out I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway. Here we are years later...finally I got an Our Lady Peace album and it did not let me down. You've heard the title track on the radio if you listened to any but an old-person station for more than a few minutes during the 1995-98 time period. "Superman's Dead" and "Automatic Flowers" are powerful, loud rock songs, and "4am" is a great sad tune that will make you want to cry. The tail end of the album drags a little but the first seven tracks would make up for worse. If you like rock and want something with kinda harsh (and cool) rough edges, get yourself a copy of Clumsy.
