Johnny Depp - he seems really weird, but boy is he a good actor. He's got a very cool presence on the screen, and Pirates of the Caribbean would be decent based on this only. Mr. Depp makes one heck of a crazy pirate, and the directors used him well... he makes the role come to life, and is very funny. The rest of the cast is respectable, too, namely Orlando Bloom. He's not as cool without arrows and elf ears as in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but is a great actor who goes well with Depp for some reason. I don't know if you remember the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean, but I recall thinking "boy this looks sweet" at first, and then thinking "nevermind it's going to be stupider than stupid" when they showed the part with skeleton pirates walking across the ocean floor. It is an... interesting movie, but the story is imaginative and fun, and the action is good. Not the greatest but very entertaining and a recommended rental. 3 1/2 out of 5 action figures for a good bit of explosions, swordfights, and laughs.
