The Punisher is evidence that your average movie critic is an idiot. If you have read reviews, and decided not to see the movie because 'experts' said there was excessive violence or a slow plot or any number of other dumb things -- forget that. First of all, it's THE PUNISHER. If there weren't excessive violence, there would be no relationship to the character this movie is based on. Thomas Jane makes a great Punisher... he's convincingly insane without being annoying. A deep, dark part of every guy wants to be The Punisher, and this movie captures that awfully well. It's entertaining, it's nuts, it's a quality comic book translation not quite on par with Spider-Man and nearly matching Daredevil. Marvel continues to impress me and I'm not even the comic book variety of nerd. Three and a half points out of five for a story and character that are both limited but nonetheless gritty and enjoyable.
